CHANNEL IV: Thousands of children in care disappear each year

14 05 27 Channel IVA joint investigation into Freedom of Information requests with OpenWorld News resulted in these figures, even though many local authorities refused to reveal their data. I have asked local authorities for data, too. So has John Hemming MP who said that the government wrote to local authorities not to reveal how many children die in care!

“Police, Social Services and the Government are looking into this ‘serious issue’…”

You need to ask yourself whom you believe: the children, the parents or any of the authorities – about the reasons for such high figures: sex, money or both:

  • one child taken every 20 minutes – as Channel IV revealed on the occasion of its program 15,000 kids and counting
  • this means 72 a day or 1,440 during a 20 working day month
  • or more than the 1,000 quoted by Ofsted…

Who will speak for these children if not us? Shame on those concerned.
